The plot centers around constable Fei Yan (played by Chow Ka-lok), who is tasked with infiltrating the mysterious forbidden area known as "Yijiang Palace" to investigate the whereabouts of a missing undercover agent. Rumored to be a place of chaos, all spies sent by the government have seemingly vanished without a trace. Fei Yan teams up with rookie constable Gao Qiang (played by Wong Ho-yi) and local guide Murong Gongzi (played by Chu Man-hon) to uncover the secrets of the palace. However, upon their arrival, they find a vibrant scene filled with music and dance, led by the troupe headed by Siu Ling (played by Chan Ying), with Fan Tai-shuai (played by Wong Tze-hang) thriving as a business genius among them.
Through incidents like the "Theatrical Poisoning Case" and "Chamber of Commerce Corruption Case," the series gradually reveals the tumultuous undercurrents beneath the surface. When the city lord's wife, played by Mak Mei-un, becomes involved in the investigation, a mysterious merchant portrayed by Tsao Wing-lam emerges as the key to unraveling the case. Who is the undercover agent? Who is the mastermind behind it all? The truth unfolds in unexpected twists, leading to an astonishing revelation of the ultimate villain's identity.
